As the notable dancer Ted Shawn once said, “dance is the only art in which we ourselves are the stuff of which it is made.”

Dance is an art form where personality and heart are unveiled, allowing the audience to feel one’s passion. True passion comes from deep within the heart and soul, from a deep devotion, and we, the youth of YC4, are bursting with passion.

Our passion comes from not one dancer, not one family, but as something greater than all of us combined: our culture. Our Portuguese pride that shines through us all is truly the passion that defines who we are.

We live and breathe our culture. We take pride in our background, and we make it known in everything we do. We strive for perfection, we strengthen each other, and we give it our all, always. We openly welcome challenges, and know that nothing is impossible when it comes to our abilities.

Our dances allow our audience to visualize how we as Portuguese American youth plan to preserve our culture. We let our audience travel with us, as we explore our traditions from generations past alongside them.

The passion that we as a unified group have put forward is something so strong that one cannot explain through words. Having the ability to show the immense happiness and pride that we have through dance is an unexplainable feeling that can only be felt.

We are a strong group of young Portuguese Americans, and we have a thriving future. We have created within our group a community of leaders and educated world citizens, and we intend on forwarding ourselves toward success.
