LUSO Youth Council #4 Honored to Perform at Festa de Praia in Terçeira, Azores

LUSO Youth Council #4 of Sacramento is honored to accept an invitation from the Festa de Praia committee, represented by Helio Melo, to perform at the 2015 Festa de Praia celebrations in Terçeira, Azores, July 31st – August 9th 2015.

Many of the group’s members enjoy traveling to the Azorean Islands, the homeland of their parents and grandparents. During the summer of 2013, while in Terçeira, some of the group’s members and leaders were watching a live feed of their group performing at the LUSO Youth Performance. While watching this live feed these members were honored to have been approached by members of the Festa Committee and asked to bring their group’s performance to the Festa de Praia celebration in Terçeira, Azores.

Since receiving this invitation, the members and leaders of Youth Council #4 of Sacramento have struggled with the decision of whether or not to accept this invitation.

“While our youth members are very excited to perform during the Festa de Praia celebration, many struggled with the decision because of our group’s commitment to LUSO and the tradition of performing during the youth performance at the annual convention”, said Youth Director Bebiana Vasconcelos.

Youth Council #4 of Sacramento is honored to have accepted the invitation to perform.

Youth Council #4 of Sacramento is planning many fundraisers to fund their trip to perform at the Festa de Praia celebration. While Youth Council #4 is affiliated with the Luso American Education Foundation, it is not receiving any funding to support its travels.
